These pictures were made by taking every frame of a movie and reducing them to the size of one pixel, then put them in rows from left to right. Reducing a picture to the size of one pixel gives us its average color. In a way, we see the entire movie before us, but there’s a colossal loss of information. We can distinguish different scenes, the pacing in the editing, and get information visually about the narrative in each movie.
